This alteration and addition to an existing dwelling required integration and imagination to work around the site’s constraints.

A listed mature eucalyptus tree to the north provided an obstacle in construction but also an outcome in design with an aspect which is otherwise impossible to recreate.

 

The outcome was to cantilever the proposed upper level over the tree’s root protection zone and the ability to enjoy the pool zone from an elevated alfresco linked to the main living zones.
